In the Bachelor‘s program, we offer two basic lecture modules on statistical methods as well as geodata analysis, GIS and cartography. In addition, we teach in-depth seminars on various qualitative and quantitative methods, including an emphasis on visual methods in geography. We also offer a wide range of advanced seminars addressing current issues and challenges in the field of digital geography. In these courses, we engage with interrelations of technology, power and productions of space by dealing with practical issues such as the influence of smartphone use on one’s sense of place and body or the effects of platform economies on the spatial and gendered division of labor.
In the Master‘s program, students have the opportunity to lay their focus on “digital geography”, including advanced GIS as well as theoretical and methodological discussions in critical digital geographies. Here, we also offer research-based courses that allow students to develop their own research agenda in the field.
